Our Start
Blessings through Adoption, was founded by Cynthia Renfroe in September 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Blessings Through Adoption was formed following Cynthia’s own experience with fostering and adoption both as a child and as a caregiver. While undertaking the arduous process of fostering and kinship adoption, Cynthia realized the vast need for community support. This realization gave birth to Blessings through Adoption.

For the Families
Cynthia’s passion for foster and adoption was born in 1978 through her personal childhood. As a young girl, Cynthia bounced from one foster home to another, experiencing some very dysfunctional environments. Through these trials, Cynthia made a commitment to one day be a foster parent, improving the lives of kids just like her. In 2004, Cynthia fulfilled this lifelong mission when she and her husband unexpectedly became caregivers to a young girl in need of a healthy home - her granddaughter, now daughter’s, half-sister. Later, through a kinship adoption, Cynthia legally adopted her granddaughter, now daughter, from the same home in 2013. Having experienced the entire process of foster and adoption - both as a child and as a caregiver - Cynthia is very familiar with the challenges and isolation that come with fostering and adoption and made it her aim to change that with Blessings Through Adoption of Beaver County.
Today...
Blessings through Adoption began as a monthly support group at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, PA, to create a non-judgmental, safe environment for foster and adoptive families. Our mission is to reach out in Christian love. We do this through supporting, educating, and equipping families that have adopted, are fostering to adopt, considering adoption, and grandparents who are adopting. As of 2023, Blessings through Adoption has grown from 2 families to up to 27 Families. We serve approximately 40 adults (moms and dads), and 60 children from Beaver, Butler, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties; with additional families from West Virginia and Ohio. Many of the children in the program exhibit extremely challenging trauma behaviors and come from multiple child households with different needs.
